The Sun's Atmosphere
The Sun's atmosphere is around the convective zone. The first layer is the photoshere which means light sphere and is the part of the sun that we can see. It gives off light. The photosphere has a grainy look to it called granulation which comes from gases bubbling up from the convective zone. It is about 6,000 Celsius.
The next part of the atmosphere is the chromosphere which means color sphere. It's temperature is from 4,000 to 50,000 Celsius. The region above the Chromosphere is the Corona which means crown. The cloud of gases that it is made of blends into space. Although it protects the sun's atoms from escaping, sometimes holes in the corona allow magnetic ions to escape into space. the particles are called solar wind.
